Free programs for every age

Is the cold weather making you stir-crazy at home? The winter months are a perfect time to try out the programs and services at your local library. You’ll find story times, arts and crafts, game nights, movies, technology classes, legal assistance – all for FREE.
Babies and toddlers (ages birth-36 months)
Muncie Public Library offers weekly story time for babies and toddlers and their caregivers at the Kennedy and Maring-Hunt locations. Kennedy Library also hosts “Tumbling Toddlers,” a free weekly play time for ages 1-3.
Yorktown Public Library offers weekly story time for babies and toddlers and their caregivers.
Anderson Public Library has weekly story and play times for up to age 5 and their caregivers at the main and Lapel locations.
Preschoolers (ages 3-5)
Muncie Public Library has multiple weekly options for preschoolers and their caregivers, including “Music and Movement” and “Play Café” at Maring-Hunt, and “Preschool Pals” and “Tinker Tots” at Kennedy.
Yorktown Public Library hosts “Bookworms,” a story time for preschoolers.
Anderson Public Library’s “Wild Sprouts,” “Budding Bookworms,” “Little Explorers Storytime” and drop-in craft sessions all welcome preschool-aged kids.
Elementary kids (Ages 6-12)
Muncie Public Library’s Youth Social Club (grades 3-8) is offered after school Monday through Thursday at Centennial Library. Maring Hunt hosts weekly STEM activities, “Crafternoons,” and game days after school. “Club In-beTween” for ages 8-11 is held weekly at Kennedy. Check the calendar for other special events like free movies.
Yorktown Public Library offers STEM Fridays, Minecraft Club, Kids Culinary Club, a K-5th grade reading program, and more.
Anderson Public Library hosts monthly tween game nights (ages 9-12) and a variety of special events around art, science, animals, animation, gaming, etc.
Teens
Muncie Public Library offers teen arts and crafts events and a cookbook club, in addition to the Youth Social Club.
Yorktown Public Library hosts an anime club, Dungeons & Dragons club, Minecraft club, teen culinary club, “Teen Scene,” and a dedicated Young Adult room.
Anderson Public Library has monthly open studio, drop-in crafts, and “Sew What?” events for teens, as well as multiple game nights.
Adults
Muncie Public Library hosts Open Door Connections every Thursday at Maring-Hunt, where you can get help enrolling in health coverage, scheduling appointments, and connecting to community support resources. Other adult services include free legal aid, technology assistance, book clubs, arts and crafts, cookbook club, and more.
Yorktown Public Library has monthly Bingo nights, chair yoga, “Crafternoon,” Dungeons & Dragons club, and Delaware County Purdue Extension classes.
Anderson Public Library offers tech workshops, arts and crafts, conversational Spanish/English, meditation and stretching, reading groups, backgammon, and Madison County Purdue Extension classes.
