Lorien Knapp, FNP-C

ADULT & FAMILY CARE

Lorien Knapp, family nurse practitioner, earned a master's degree in biology from Ball State University and a master's degree in nursing from the University of Southern Indiana. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she was an ICU nurse. She also worked in a variety of health-related fields all over the world. In Africa, she worked for 10 years doing community development work for homeless children. She also participated in research, testing, and caring for women and children with HIV in Tanzania. Lorien also spent time in Peru, South America, doing development work for indigenous people through a community health organization.

Having experience with a variety of cultures helped shape her desire to share the gifts she has with those around her. As a health care provider, Lorien wants to break down barriers to care, build trust with her patients, and see people for who they are—all to help people know she cares and is ready to listen.

While Lorien is still involved in the non-profit she started for homeless children in Tanzania, she also enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two children.
