Social worker, Andrea Whigum, honored with the 2016 Essential Piece Award

March 10, 2016 - Muncie, IN - Open Door is excited to announce that our social worker, Andrea Whigum, was honored with the 2016 Essential Piece Award from Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice. She was chosen from more than 30,000 health care social workers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois to receive this award!

The Essential Piece Award was created to award social workers for their dedication and outstanding service to their patients. According to Great Lakes Caring Home Health and Hospice the recipient of the award is chosen for three reasons: 1) Their belief in the importance of effective communication between Great Lakes Caring and their facility’s staff; 2) for being mindful of the needs of their residents and the importance of making timely referrals; and 3) for supporting and their understanding of the importance of collaborative care.
