Free Pack 'n Plays Available at Open Door Health Services

June 7, 2016 – Muncie, IN – According to the Indiana State Department of Child Services, on average, at least one child dies each week in Indiana as a result of bed sharing in an unsafe environment.

In an effort to decrease this statistic, Open Door Health Services is partnering with Labor of Love to be a distribution site for pack ‘n plays to provide a safe place for babies to sleep. Women who are at least 36 weeks pregnant or have a child under the age of 12 months qualify to receive a pack ‘n play.

There are no costs associated with receiving the pack ‘n plays, but there are some guidelines that must be met prior to distribution:

  • Complete application

  • Watch short education video about safe sleep practices

  • Participate in demonstration of set up and tear-down of pack ‘n play with Open Door trainer

All members of the community are eligible to participate in this program – they do not have to be a patient of Open Door Health Services in order to participate.  If a caregiver such as a babysitter or non-custodial parent does not have a safe sleep option for a child, they are also eligible to participate in the program, as long as they meet the guidelines above.

For more information or to schedule an appointment to obtain a free pack ‘n play, call (765) 286-7000.
