eKeeper keeps Open Door’s IT – and 5K – running

Dustin Humm thinks of himself as one of Open Door’s longest-term employees. Yet he doesn’t have an Open Door office and isn’t on the all-staff roster.

“When I started my IT business in 2002, Open Door was one of my very first customers,” said Dustin, founder and President of eKeeper, a comprehensive IT services firm headquartered in Yorktown, Indiana. “Back then, computers were just making their way into healthcare. Open Door had a handful of desktops and one server. I had the unique opportunity to build the system from the ground up, and in many ways, it feels like my baby that I’ve helped grow all the way through college. Open Door is near and dear to my heart.”

Unparalleled Excellence

As Open Door’s technology needs have grown, so has Dustin’s business. eKeeper officially launched in 2004, providing local IT solutions at a time when most central Indiana businesses had to rely on services from Indianapolis or Fort Wayne. Business owners liked the idea of IT support located a few minutes, not an hour, away.

Clients also were drawn to Dustin’s three-pronged approach to business: a commitment to unparalleled excellence, a fully flat fee for services, and a desire to build long-term relationships that make the customer successful.

Today, eKeeper analysts serve clients from Mooresville to Lake Michigan, with specialized knowledge in manufacturing, healthcare, credit unions, public libraries, non-profit, and serviced-based industries. At Open Door, they manage hardware, software, enterprise systems, and on-call tech support while also ensuring that sensitive patient information remains private and secure.

Nathan Stout, Open Door’s information systems coordinator, works closely with the eKeeper team and greatly values the interpersonal nature of the partnership: “eKeeper team members are present, often on-site, in a way that allows you to know them and have conversations with them.  They are not just faceless names behind a screen. It’s a quality that makes me feel like eKeeper is invested in Open Door, and in turn makes me feel invested in eKeeper.”

Community:First

eKeeper’s commitment to excellence extends to its “Community:First” corporate philanthropy program, which provides financial, equipment, and volunteer support to the communities where eKeeper employees and clients live and work. This year, eKeeper is the premiere sponsor of Open Door’s Decades Dash.

“I believe I have an obligation and responsibility to give back to the community where I was raised,” said Dustin. “That’s why eKeeper is headquartered in Yorktown and why we put so much emphasis on supporting and enhancing the lives of those around us.”
