Open enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace is happening now

1.) The last day to enroll in Marketplace coverage for 2021 is December 15, 2020.

2.) Open Door offers all community members FREE assistance learning about Marketplace options and enrolling in a plan. Our certified Navigators are trained to walk you through the process. Call (765) 286-7000 to schedule a visit in Muncie or Anderson.

What is the Health Insurance Marketplace?

In a nutshell, if you don't have health coverage through an employer, through Medicaid, or through Medicare, you can purchase coverage through other sources. These sources include a private insurance company, a broker or online seller, or the government's Health Insurance Marketplace. With coverage from the Marketplace, your income may qualify you for a tax credit to help lower the cost of your plan. This is why the Marketplace is an affordable option for many people.

There are only a few weeks during the year when you can enroll in a Marketplace plan. This time period is called "open enrollment." Open enrollment for Marketplace coverage in 2021 is currently underway and ends December 15, 2020. More information and online enrollment are available at www.healthcare.gov.

If you are already covered by a Markeplace plan and do not update your application or enroll in a new plan, you will be automatically re-enrolled in a 2021 plan.

Note: Medicaid is not part of the Marketplace. You may apply for Medicaid at any time. However, if you have Medicaid coverage and wish to change Managed Care Organizations, this must take place during your plan’s open enrollment period. Navigators are happy to help you apply for, or change, a Medicaid plan. To learn more about Medicaid in Indiana, visit www.in.gov/medicaid.
