Mobile Unit offers back-to-school physicals and immunizations—No appointment needed

Services at these events include athletic physicals, school physicals, and all standard childhood immunizations. COVID-19 vaccinations are also available for ages 12+.

Events are open to any child in the community. Families do not need to be Open Door patients to participate. A parent or guardian must be present.

Pinewood Dr.Thursday, July 29 – Millennium Place – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. – 451 E. 2nd St.Tuesday, Aug. 3 – Earthstone Terrace – 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. – 3300 S. School and athletic physicals are a flat fee of $25 at the time of service. Immunizations will be billed to insurance when applicable. For children covered by Medicaid, HIP, or Hoosier Healthwise, as well as children who are uninsured, immunizations are no cost as part of the Vaccines For Children program.

If payment at the time of service is a barrier, we invite families to visit us at one of our brick-and-mortar health centers in Muncie or Anderson, or to visit the Mobile Unit during its non-event regular operation schedule. Open Door's sliding fee discounts, based on income and household size, apply to services received at our health center sites, as well as the Mobile Unit's non-event schedule. Sliding fees are one way community health centers, such as Open Door, create access to healthcare for individuals and families who may have financial barriers to care.

The Open Door Mobile Unit provides pediatric and adult primary care at school sites and other community sites during the academic year and summer in Muncie, Anderson, and surrounding county areas.
