Open Door Health Services is a not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center. Our teams provide comprehensive primary, urgent, and preventive healthcare services, as well as social support programs. We care for individuals and families throughout East Central Indiana regardless of their health insurance status. ODHS offers services through multiple locations in Muncie and Anderson.

We are recognized by the National Committee of Quality Assurance as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home.

By carrying out our mission to improve the quality of life of others, we enhance the communities where we live, work, and play; creating a better life and future for others and ourselves.

We will be recognized throughout East Central Indiana as a leader of compassionate services that improve the health of individuals and communities.

To stay true to our mission and vision, we honor the following values in all of our actions:

Esteem the Team

Put Others First

Maximize Potential

Do the Right Thing

A Health Care Home isn’t a building or a place. It is a way of providing health care that gets you and your family involved. A Health Care Home provides education and support for every area of care that you receive. Your health care team will consist of you, your family, your primary care provider, a nurse and medical assistant, a health educator, and behavior health or other specialists.

Open Door Health Services has been in the Muncie community since 1974, although we have been known by several different names, including Open Door Health Clinic and Open Door/BMH Health Center.

When the clinic first opened, it was staffed by one nurse and physicians from the residency program at Ball Memorial Hospital.  Over the past three decades, Open Door has grown by leaps and bounds.  In the last ten years, the growth has become even more pronounced.  In 2000, Open Door served 6,272 individuals.  In 2016, 20,239 received care at one of Open Door’s locations throughout East Central Indiana.

Unfortunately, though, we are still not providing care to every uninsured or underinsured person in East Central Indiana.  In fact, in 2014, there were approximately 126,435 people who were uninsured or underinsured and eligible for our services living in East Central Indiana without access to affordable health care.
