Open Door Health Services (ODHS) and Gateway Health Center (GHC), the two health care providers in Muncie and East Central Indiana that provide health care for the uninsured and underinsured, have now joined forces.  The two organizations came together in order to better serve those individuals in most need of medical care in East Central Indiana.

On March 1, Gateway Health Center will be relocating from its current location at the YWCA to 100 North Tillotson Avenue in the Med Centre Plaza at the corner of Gilbert and Tillotson.  This move will allow easier access to those residents on the west side of Muncie as this has not been an area where affordable health care for the uninsured has been available in the past.

Gateway’s hours will increase from three days per week to five, with the center’s hours of operation being Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (765) 286-7000.

Any patient with a household income of less than 100% of the Federal Poverty Level (recently updated to $23,050 per year for a family of four) will qualify for 100% discounted services at both ODHS and GHC.  Gateway Health Center is also now able to accept Medicaid, Medicare, and the Healthy Indiana Plan.  Enrollment specialists are on-site to assist patients in applying for these and other assistance programs, such as food stamps and TANF.

Open Door Health Services is proud to state that all Gateway Health Center employees have continued employment and are now part of the ODHS team, with some employees increasing hours from part- to full-time.  Additional staff has also been hired in order to accommodate the increased hours of operation.
